We all know that drinking water is getting scarce. There is only a small amount of drinkable water on the world, and it is highly consumed by us, humanity. But there are oceans full of salt water, so why don’t use the’ m? That is exactly what we at EPTS want to do, use salt water, and convert it to drinkable water. We’ll explain how we want to do that in a minute.
At the same time, the number of floods is getting higher and higher, due to global warming. The higher temperatures cause that the ice at the North Pole melts, which results in a higher sea level, and thus more floods at places as risk, for example the Netherlands, or even worse, low-lying developing countries, where there isn’t enough money to spend at water-stopping stuff. However, there is a solution to stop the floods, and convert the water to drinkable water!
EPTS is an abbreviation, for sure. But what does it mean? In full, our group is called: Emergency Purification Transport System.
Emergency stands for: in case of a flood, the EPTS can control the flood, by intercepting the water flow.
Purification stands for: the water goes through a pipe, onto a heated platform, causing the water to evaporate, but leaving the salt on the platform, and causing the salt to go through a pipe, and ends up in a huge container, where the salt is stored. Well, let’s get further with the water. The water vapour goes through a hatch, which closes after the water vapour went through. Then the water vapour hits a very cold plate, after which the water vapour turns into sterilized water. The water falls on the closed hatch, after which the water flows through another pipe, and ends up in an enormous tank, where a truck loads the water in his container.
Transport stands for: the truck then transports the water to a huge central water container, ready to be consumed.
